Electric Batteries, which are rechargeable, are available for Electric Bicycles, Scooters and Bikes. Currently, most of the Electric Bikes (E-bikes) in the market are fitted with Lead Acid (PbA) batteries, though it is possible to use Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Nickel-cadmium (NiCd), Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) and Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) batteries instead of lead acid batteries. However, Li-poly batteries are now emerging as the latest technology, owing to their characteristics such as design flexibility, higher voltage.

E-bikes have become popular in China because of their characteristics such as low maintenance, low cost etc. With the increasing number of Electric Bike manufacturing companies in China, the competition in this segment has increased considerably.
